Complete story walkthrough
Start with Soldier and follow the story through Last Stand. Every mission has a dedicated page with its contact, starting location, required story progress and a practical walkthrough. The list places prerequisites before the missions they unlock, so some contacts appear in several parts of the route.
Guide numbers are a suggested reading order, not a counter imposed by the game. You can choose between available contacts. The chapter headings describe story phases: later jobs can return to western Vice City, and missions for different contacts often overlap.
Story unlocks and business requirements
- First civilian safehouse: finish Conduct Unbecoming to move to 101 Bayshore Avenue.
- Business empire: complete To Victor, The Spoils to unlock business ownership and gang recruitment.
- Eastern Vice City: finish both The Bum Deal and Snitch Hitch, then complete From Zero to Hero to open the bridges.
- First business defence: Blitzkrieg requires Brawn of the Dead and at least five owned empire sites.
- Second business defence: Blitzkrieg Strikes Again requires Burning Bridges and at least seven owned empire sites.
- Final assault: Over the Top supplies the Hunter used in Last Stand.
If a marker is missing, check the required story progress shown on its guide. Complete the other active branches, answer incoming calls and verify the business requirement. Waiting at a contact’s location does not replace an unfinished prerequisite.

Help with difficult missions
- Boomshine Blowout: align the forklift before lifting and adapt your route as debris blocks the warehouse.
- Papi Don't Screech: balance the café deadline against Alberto’s stress meter.
- Money for Nothing: keep your wanted level until Lance finishes, then lose the police.
- Turn on, Tune in, Bug out: clear every station antenna before removing the wanted level.
- High Wire: stabilise the magnet helicopter before lifting moving or vulnerable targets.
- Domo Arigato Domestoboto: the safe code is 8423; use the lighter arm after opening it.
- Light My Pyre: protect Lance on the road, then keep distance from Armando’s flamethrower.
- Last Stand: save armour and ammunition for the offices, helicopter fight and rooftop finale.
PSP and PS2 controls
The guides follow the story objectives shared by the PSP and PlayStation 2 versions. Use the control prompts shown by your version for aiming, forklift operation, helicopter tools and the golf swing. Vic can swim, but stamina is limited: plan a reachable shore before entering the water.
Prepare for the longer missions
Save before difficult assignments, restore health and armour and keep ammunition for the final stage of an escort. A heavy weapon is useful in the late battles, but it does not replace cover or protecting your companions. Leave mission vehicles clear of explosions and keep a usable car for timed transfers.
Story completion and 100% completion
Last Stand finishes the main story. These 59 guides cover the complete story mission list; a 100% save also requires side activities, collectibles, races and business-related tasks beyond the plot. The five-site and seven-site story gates do not mean every business activity must be completed before the ending.
