Huang’s arrival in Liberty City begins the search for Yu Jian.

Complete story route

Start with Yu Jian and finish the main campaign with Salt in the Wound. Every mission has its own guide, image, contact, starting location and progress notes. The main list follows a usable reading order through the required branches. It is not a rule that only one contact may be available at a time.

PSP documentary missions have a separate list and navigation. They intersect the campaign at specific points: for example, Parking Pickle is part of the PSP progress toward Jackin' Chan, while Sources feeds into Copter Carnage. DS and mobile players continue without those PSP-only jobs.

Which missions are in each version?

Version Story campaign Additional content
Nintendo DS 58 main missions Xin originally used the legacy online unlock.
PSP 58 main missions + 5 PSP missions Xin originally used the legacy online unlock.
Mobile 58 main missions Includes the Xin post-story content; no Melanie branch.

The DS/PSP Social Club content-unlock service is no longer available. A fresh handheld save cannot unlock Xin by following an old instruction to link its account online. A save with the content already unlocked is a different case.

On mobile, the bonus content does not need that old account connection. Finish the story, check the post-game PDA messages and collect both Lions of Fo where your edition requires them. Older mobile releases and later ports differ in how this unlock is presented. The two Xin missions are not required for 100% completion.

When a mission marker is missing

Read new PDA emails and complete the other open story branches. Each guide links to its preceding missions, with PSP-only requirements labelled separately. A guide number is a reading aid, not an in-game unlock condition.

  • Carpe Dime brings together the Recruitment Drive, Jackin’ Chan and Bomb Disposal branches.
  • Half Cut on PSP follows Factory Fun and progress through Carpe Dime; Sources also needs the story to reach Trail Blazer.
  • Wi-Find follows both A Rude Awakening and See No Evil.
  • Salt in the Wound requires both Clear the Pier and Hit from the Tong.

PSP-exclusive documentary missions

These five missions are exclusive to PSP. They occur during the main campaign, rather than forming a post-game sequence.

Xin post-story bonus missions

These two bonus missions follow the main ending where unlocked. Check the version guide above before trying an old Social Club instruction.

Help with difficult missions

  • Flatliner: drive smoothly and complete the resuscitation prompt when Uri flatlines.
  • Store Wars: build both barricades and stop the firebomb throwers before they reach the shop.
  • Trail Blazer: keep the tanker moving ahead of the flames and jump clear at the final marker.
  • Dragon Haul Z: follow the disguise route and perform each special move without alarming the crowd.
  • By Myriads of Swords: finish each traitor with the sword, then collect both IDs.
  • See No Evil: intercept bikers away from Meredith, then guard the apartment entrances.
  • Wi-Find: find the overlap where both signal meters are full and stay inside for each transfer.

Controls, saving and mission retries

Touchscreen gestures and PSP button sequences differ. Follow the prompts displayed by your edition for ignition, cranes, medical interactions, weapon setup and other minigames. The guides explain the objective without treating one control layout as universal.

Save before difficult missions and restore health, armour and ammunition. Check whether a mission requires a specific vehicle or passenger count before replacing your transport. During an escort, protecting the marked person or cargo is more important than defeating every unrelated enemy.

Story completion and 100% completion

Salt in the Wound ends the main plot. A 100% save also needs the relevant side activities, collectibles and other completion tasks in your version. This library covers the full story and its additional mission branches; it does not claim that finishing the finale alone completes every activity.
