How GTA 2 mission progression works
GTA 2 does not use a single linear story chain. Each district has three gangs, with seven jobs per gang. Green phones offer the entry jobs; yellow and red phones require higher respect. Several contacts can be available at once, and completing an initial job can replace it with a follow-up on the same phone tier.
The lists below organise each gang’s jobs into a useful reading order. They are not instructions to finish an entire gang before speaking to anyone else. Watch the gang meters: attacks that improve your standing with one faction can damage your access to another faction’s work.
Completing all 21 gang jobs in a district triggers its boss confrontation. To see every mission, finish that district’s checklist before leaving. Simply progressing through the game is different: district exits are governed by score targets, so the all-jobs route is not mandatory for reaching the ending.
| District | Score target | Next destination |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown | $1,000,000 | Residential |
| Residential | $3,000,000 | Industrial |
| Industrial | $5,000,000 | Leave Anywhere City |
Return to the Jesus Saves church when the exit is available. Saving and leaving are separate actions: saving normally costs $50,000 and should be planned between jobs. Keep enough money available and save before difficult assaults or long collection missions.
Which version does this walkthrough cover?
The 67-guide checklist covers the original GTA 2 campaign on PC, Dreamcast and PlayStation. The PlayStation release changes some mission names, vehicles and target counts. Where a difference affects a route, the individual guide identifies it.
- Double-Cross Crush!: 50 targets per gang on PC/Dreamcast, 20 on PlayStation.
- LaBrat’s Plan!: 47 targets on PC/Dreamcast, 17 on PlayStation.
- Fire Truck Fun!: 30 targets on PC/Dreamcast, 10 on PlayStation.
- Murder in the Mall!: 100 targets on PC/Dreamcast, 20 on PlayStation.
- Fake Truce!: the supplied bus is replaced by a limousine on PlayStation.
- Hot Dog Homicide!: the PlayStation route uses a Karma Bus and Krishna passengers.
The Game Boy Color release is a separate adaptation with a reduced and altered mission set. This 67-mission checklist should not be used as its completion count. Follow the platform-specific objectives shown by your game when a vehicle, name or counter differs.

Mission completion is not the whole 100% route
This section covers every original-campaign mission, including the tutorial and district finales. Tokens, Kill Frenzies and other side activities are separate tasks. Completing the Industrial finale does not automatically complete those activities.
