Bring $100,000 to 8-Ball
Visit the bomb shop after Act I and meet the funding requirement. Collect the mission's sniper rifle and take 8-Ball to Portland Harbour in a passenger vehicle. Keep him safe during the drive.

Reach the rooftop vantage point
At the docks, use the nearby stairs to reach the elevated firing position overlooking the ship. Practise moving the scope across the visible guards without firing. Your first shot triggers 8-Ball's movement, so complete your positioning beforehand.

Clear his immediate route
Start with the guards near the access route, then work across the deck ahead of 8-Ball. Shoot enemies who can fire on him before distant guards with no current angle. Recheck his position between shots so you know which part of the ship needs attention next.

Keep covering until the charges are placed
Do not leave the scope position after the first few kills. Continue clearing the visible armed defenders until 8-Ball completes his task and the destruction sequence begins. Shooting your partner or allowing him to be killed fails the operation.
Key point
The first shot is the start signal. A careful setup before firing gives you far more control than trying to climb the roof while 8-Ball is already exposed.
