Three’s Company is the first story operation built around all three protagonists. Trevor flies the helicopter, Michael rappels into the IAA office and Franklin covers the extraction with a sniper rifle. Switch when the mission calls for it and protect the rescue rather than firing indiscriminately at the building.
Step-by-step walkthrough
-
Meet the FIB and assemble the team
Attend Michael’s meeting with Dave and Steve, then drive with Dave to the warehouse meeting point. The group assigns the roles and prepares the helicopter. For a timed run, skip the conversations and keep the journey direct.
As Trevor, fly to the marker above the IAA headquarters. Approach steadily and settle into the indicated position so Michael can begin the descent. Overshooting the building and circling back wastes time before the rescue has even started.
-
Rappel to the office window
Control Michael down the side of the building, using the descent prompts until he reaches the interrogation office. Break through at the marked window and grab Ferdinand. Stay with the scripted objective rather than trying to land on another ledge.
Switch to Franklin when the office guards threaten the extraction. Aim through the windows at the armed enemies, keeping Michael and Ferdinand out of the line of fire. This sniper section is a strong opportunity to build the ten-headshot requirement.

Trevor pilots, Michael extracts Ferdinand and Franklin provides sniper cover. -
Cover the lift and stop the helicopters
Clear the office threats so Michael can leave with Ferdinand. When a helicopter threatens Franklin’s position, shoot its pilot or another decisive target before returning attention to the extraction. Avoid wasting rounds on distant scenery or firing while an ally crosses the sightline.
During the airborne pursuit, use Michael to shoot the chasing helicopters. His special ability makes deliberate shots easier and helps preserve the 60% accuracy target. Keep firing only while the target is actually in view.
-
Return to the meeting point and land
Once the pursuing aircraft are dealt with, let Trevor fly towards the return marker while you remain with Michael if you want the automatic flight assistance. Switch back to Trevor for the landing. Lower the helicopter carefully into the marked area without clipping nearby structures.
The handover completes the rescue. For the 7:30 medal, efficient transitions matter as much as the shooting: arrive accurately at the rooftop, respond promptly to the character prompts and avoid an extended landing approach.
Gold medal checklist
- Time: Complete within 7:30. Skip scenes, approach the rooftop marker directly and make a controlled return landing.
- Accuracy: Finish with at least 60% shooting accuracy. Use deliberate sniper shots and Michael’s special ability.
- Headshots: Kill ten enemies with headshots, using Franklin’s office coverage and Michael’s shooting sections.
Common questions
Which character should shoot during the helicopter escape?
Michael handles the firing while Trevor pilots. Michael’s special ability helps make accurate shots at the pursuers.
Why is the rescue not progressing?
Check for surviving guards in the office or an active helicopter threat. The extraction waits for those dangers to be cleared.
What happens next
The FIB storyline continues in By the Book. Other Los Santos missions, including Hood Safari and Michael’s family storyline, are also part of this stage of the campaign.
