Identify the Cargobob marker before committing to a route across the runway. The aim is to reach the helicopter pad, not steal a jet or search the hangars.

Board the Cargobob and take off
Drive close enough to keep the exposed run to the cockpit short. Get into the marked Cargobob and lift off as soon as the aircraft responds. Avoid spending time shooting soldiers unless they are preventing you from reaching it.
Climb clear of nearby structures before making a sharp turn. The Cargobob is large and sluggish; clipping a light pole or building can damage it before the escape begins.

Lose the military pursuit
Fly away from Fort Zancudo towards Sandy Shores, keeping enough clearance from terrain while moving out of the military search area. Follow the objective to lose the pursuing helicopter. Do not hover beside the base trying to trade fire in an aircraft built for lifting cargo.
