Mission walkthrough

  1. Take the BMX

    After the police leave CJ in Jefferson, approach the bicycle and use the enter-vehicle control. Follow the cycling prompts for your platform; the button used for a burst of speed depends on your control layout.

  2. Find the Johnson house

    Use the CJ marker to locate Grove Street in Ganton. Keep to the roads or clear pavement, slow before junctions and avoid picking fights while CJ has little equipment. The map can be opened whenever you need to check your direction.

  3. Enter the home marker

    Stop outside the Johnson house and enter the marked area. This begins Big Smoke and the next opening sequence. You can explore before entering, but there is no need to earn money or buy a weapon first.

Key point

This is the introduction rather than an additional numbered story mission. Reaching Grove Street advances the opening; discovering every map icon is unnecessary.
